After much expermenitation, this is the final illustration i have come up with. Initiallly i had fire around the circumference of the sun but it looked really crap so i changed it for sun rays like in my original sketch. The sun rays are supposed to be abstract torches (the modern kind) but i'm not sure if that communicates well enough.. they do however serve their purpose as sun rays. Water details was added and more feminine detail was added to the character as i had read that lakshmi is also meant to be beautiful.
