Roots

Having done a lot of commercial lately, i think its time i got back to my roots and do some personal work, spend time to develop my method of working, refine my current techniques and explore new ones.

Commercial work hasn't really given me the flexibility to express myself fully, with client restrictions/needs, time issues and the general tone of commercial work being pretty one dimensional... i think my creativity has suffered and admittedly i've developed a few bad habits. Commerical work will continue in the background but i'll be showcasing much more of what im about from now on.

So, its back to my roots... watch this space :)

Oriental Pearl

I was approached recently by a local restaurant owner to re-brand their image to coincide with the opening of their new chinese restaurant. They specifically wanted to give the restaurant a contemporary edge whilst still retaining their cultural identity.

I used a lot of circular imagery to represent pearls which is consistent in both the logo and the font. The font was customised in a way to show qualities seen in chinese writing.

This logo will be used on everything from signage, business cards, menu etc. so i will be getting some decent photos once it opens!

Lips

This was the first revision (the very first one was in shades of purple/pink). I was pleased with how one turned out but changes had to be made to make the face shape more obvious - i preferred it as a subtle background.
